Hi all,
I took delivery of my VGN-AW21XY/Q this morning I have a query before I scratch it though ;).....
All the boxes have the correct model name (VGN-AW21XY/Q), but the Model number on the base of the laptop states "PCG-8141M".
The only reference I could find on the Internet to the model "PCG-8141M" was to an older Vaio model - the "VGN-AW21M/H".
Unlikely I know but.....I'm just concerned that I'm being conned with a switch of unit in the box! Can someone please confirm if the Vaio VGN-AW21XY/Q should indeed have the Model number "PCG-8141M" on the underside label as my unit does?
Thanks in anticipation!
Paul
PS I'll now fire her up for the first time to check that actual hardware specs
Hi Paul,
welcome to Club VAIO..
Rest easy, PCG-8141M & PCG-8143P are the generic product numbers of the AW series, this is different to the individual model codes used within the series, ie AW21XY/Q
You can find your vaio's model code...
...just below the VAIO's display
...Click Start - VAIO Control Center - System Information
...on the original VAIO box..
Many thanks Thalamus. Yep - Sys Info confirmed the model number
I also tried out Sony's Chat Support (very good by the way) - they confirmed that the "Model" number shown on the label on the base of the Vaio actually referes to the chassis type. So, in the case of my VGN-21XY/Q, the chassis type is "PCG-8141M".
Looking forward to browsing these Forums for some hints 'n' tips on my new machine!
Paul
Welcome Paul
