vaio recovery utility

Hi all, please can you help me with a recovery utliity problem. I am trying to make a backup of the operating system via the "vaio recovery utility" program. However, when I start the program, the screen says to make a backup then the next screen says that "cannot find a cd or dvd recorder -drive maybe in use check the drive and start again". Now, the drive is working fine and is not in use. Any ideas from all you experts out there will be very gratefully received. Many thanks, Jon:smileyhappy:

Hi Jon and welcome to Club Vaio.

I presume your DVD Drive letter is still F:. If you have changed it the Recovery Utility will not be able to find the drive.

It is much more likely that some other DLA DVD Packet Software is causing a conflict with the Recovery Utility DVD burner. It is usually software that formats discs for 'Drag and Drop'. If you have any of these installed, or any other similar programs, try uninstalling them and try to create your discs again.

* Drag to Disc (Part of Roxio's Easy Media creator Suite and also part of Roxio's Easy CD & DVD Creator suite)
* InstantDisc (Part of Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD)
