Using the Product Recovery CD, how do you get VAIO Info Centre to work so that you can access the hardware and software guides? I load the icon, go through the menus, then click the options, but nothing happens.

Perhaps I am missing something, but why are you trying to access the guides on your recovery CD.

They should be preinstalled on your hard disk.
