I just bought the VGP-PRFE1 Docking Station for my VAIO VGN-FE11H.
I want to dock it in and close the notebook to continue working with my external monitor, mouse and keyboard.
BUT, when I do that the Computer switches into stand-by mode, like it is supposed to when I use it "un-docked".
How can I change my power management settings? How can I close the lid without putting the system to stand-by?
I know that I could simply tell Windows not to do that, but I dont want to change those settings everytime I use my VAIO in "un-docked" mode.
Is that in any way possible? Do you guys have a solution

I'm sure someone will be along shortly with the answer.:smileyhappy:
Hi kaspandido,
I don't think you can have different setting for 'Docked' and 'Undocked'.
I presume you know how to change this permanently? If not: -
Go to Control Panel>>Power options>>Advanced
There should be an option to set what happens when you close your notebook - change it from 'Standby' to 'Do Nothing'.
I'm doing this from memory - it will be somewhere in Power Options if it isn't in 'Advanced'.
Hi kaspandido,
Closing your Vaio when running could cause it to overheat as air I believe is drawn in via the keyboard.
thanks you guys.
In the end its just a question of aesthetics anyhow.
Well, thanx again for your quick replies.
