upgrading harddisk on F304

My current harddisk of 6 Gb will be replaced by a 20 Gb harddrive (Travelstar). Is there anything to be changed in the bios, or will the Sony laptop F 304 bios and Windows 98/SE both recognize the bigger drive automatically??

Normally there should be no issue, but if there's a BIOS update, download it and keep it in case it does need it.

Is there a bios upgrade at all (other than for upgrading to Win 2000 or XP) available for the F 304 running Win 98 /SE? I am not aware of one ? Currently I have BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD R0206K0 08/03/99 running on my F 304.:smileysad:

Surprise, Tthe laptop F304 installation from the Sony installation CD did not want to recognize the replacement drive IBM 2.5 20 Gb drive (Bios did) . Only the original drive would do. Obviously during the install process the F403 checks its hardware and if any change it refusues to install correcly. Is there a way to overcome this ?:smileysad:

Usually it goes without fault.

Have you checked for a BIOS update?
