SZ Dim Screen - backlight not working!!

Hi Guys im having a headach of a problem with my vaio

After a cracked screen (working backlight) i ordered a new one, 'refurbished' (gaurentee finished)

After installing the screen turned out to be faulty (getting funny pixels) but the backlight worked again

So the company replaced the screen with a 'NEW screen'

After plugging that one in... the backlight doesnt work!!!! and it doesnt work on my old one either now!! But the screens work fine (can see the image with a light)

Is there a problem with my laptop and not the screens?

Of have this company sent me a dodgy screen? (it doesnt look brand new tbh the plastic cover has big bubbles and there is a bend on the bracket connecting the chip to the screen)

Has anyone got any ideas?

Hi Avi110 and welcome to the forum.

A faulty inverter or bad wiring connection to the inverter would cause the symptoms you describe.

Hi, yup the inverter is part of the screen right... this new screen still doesnt work so im guessing its not that unless i broke my inverter and they sent me a screen with a broken inverter all in 24h

Any way i can diagnose the connection wire? (test the pins with a voltmeter or something?)

Hi

Yes, the backlight inverter is usually housed within the lower part of the screen assembly.

Did you purchase a full screen assembly or just the LCD?

Have a look here for details on how to test the inverter or Google for further info...
