Firstly let me start out by saying I loved my Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11Z. I have mobilitly problems from a bad health condition and my notebook was bought with everything I could possibly need to help keep me occupied especially messing around with photography, it is one of the few joys I have left open to me, so needless to say that considering Sony is such a big company I expected that shelling out over a £1000 for my laptop, I did not expect it to break down just over 18 months after purchase.
I accept that my warrenty runs out after a 12 month period but for the graphics card to cause such a catastrophic failure as to render the laptop unusable was unexpected to say the least. I have done some checking online regarding the graphics card and it seems there was a fault with them but Sony is one of the few not acknowledging that. The response I got from Sony is very disappointing and totally unacceptable in my opinion. The only option they gave me was for them to pick it up at a cost of £200 initial outlay and that if it was the graphics card it would cost another £500 to fix.
I am disabled and on very limited income, the laptop was a gift for my birthday to give me some form of distraction from the constant pain, so how on earth do Sony expect me and more importantly, other people like me, to shell out that kind of money on top of what the laptop originally cost for a fault that was caused by a faulty graphics card!
I personally think Sony has acted disgracefully over this fault and whenever I do manage to get enough money up to buy another laptop (instead of borrowing a friends for an hour) I will not be buying another vaio sadly and I would not advise anyone else to get one either

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to this nevermind helping me out, you are very kind and it is greatly appreciated even if I get the same reply, thank you again
Hi,
Sony is taking care of your case/laptop and will perform a free diagnose.
I will keep you informed  .
Thanks again for getting involved and giving me some help.
Sony picked up the laptop to diagnose it however I got a call to say that the graphics card had fried the motherboard and that would need to be replaced before they could even diagnose it, so I was quoated at over £700 for the repair. Sadly that is way beyond my reach so they have delivered it back unfixed.
Thanks agin for your help though
