Does the computer startup? if it does go to your bios to reset the settings back to default and that should fix your problem.

What is the full spec of the computer?

Graham,

From what I understood it seems he has fried his motherboard

Ah if you have fried it as KeeLo thinks then you are going to need a new Mother Board, it doesnt have to be the same one.

If you could post the specs of the computer i.e. CPU type and Speed, RAM style (is it DDR? and what type) etc.. these specs can usualy be found on a sheet that came with you computer.

Or I suppose i could just look at the online manual. Shall check that and get back to you.

Or just try to get the same mother board from a supplyer, how old is the computer?

Are you sure that PCV-RXM21D is the correct number? as the only series listed on the Club site are the following ones.

PCV-RX1
PCV-RX2
PCV-RX312
PCV-RX3
PCV-RX4A
PCV-RX4B
PCV-RX5
PCV-RXG408

there are more models in each series of the RX machines for example in the RX2 range there is the RX201, RX202, RX2D, and the RX203.

Is it one of the blueish coloured desktops?

If you wish to get the same moterboard that could be tricky as according to the ASUS site (http://uk.asus.com/products/mb/mbindex.htm) they only make the P4V533-MX, P4B533-X, and the P4BGL-MX/533. You might want to contact ASUS with the motherboards Serial and model numbers to see if it was branded differntly for sony.

Can you get the board out of the computer? if you can could you take photos of it and post them so that i can get and idea of what might best sutie as a replacement.

One problem with getting a different board might be that the recovery CD drivers will not work with a new one.

Thanks for your help.

I really think that it is fried, because before i changed the graphic card, the pc turned on, but the only thing it has done was a peep. Yesterday i changed the graphic card, the peep is gone, but after the start i still do have no video signal on the screen, the keyboard and the mouse are also dead and after a moment the power button becomes grey (instead of blue) and the drives will go to sleep mode.
I allready contacted ASUS for a replacement, but they are unable to give me one, because this board is an OEM for Sony.

Here the details for the PC:

PCV-RXM21 /DA Serial number: 28473753-5002220 (appr. 2 years old now)
P4, 2,533 Ghz
Realtek 10Base-T/100Base-TX
Cache 512 KB (on die)
Memory 256 MB Infinion, 2700, DDR
HDD 80GB
4 USB Ports
1 Firewire
1 optical
1 iLink ?? Port Special from Sony ??

If you need more, just tell me

Thanks !!!

Well sounds to me like your motherboard died.
Check eBay if you can get a replacement.

You should be able to use any ASUS P4 board in your machine as they are all the same size, the only problem is that the drivers on the recovery CD might not match. That should not be to large a problem as the motherboard come with drivers CD.

I think that yould be your best course of action. You will need to make sure that the memory is supported.
