it has told me that the drive is "out of date"
what do i do ??????
Hi angus1878,
Don’t believe any results from an automated test! CD drives do not go out of date nor do drivers or firmware, although updates do provide additional functionality.
First thing to try is uninstalling the drive using Device Manager and then re-boot.
If this has no effect then clean the laser lens with a propriety cleaner.
If none of the above works then the drive may be faulty. A replacement drive should cost no more than £50 but fitting the face plate may prove a problem unless the replacement drive is from the same series as the one that is currently fitted.
