To upgrabe to Windows XP Pro, firstly install your Original VAIO branded version of Windows XP from recovery media to your hard disk.
Then once installed burn the entire C:\DRIVERS folder to a CD-R or CD-RW disk.
Insert the Windows XP Pro Upgrade CD in the computer once your original Windows XP Home OS is running, then wait for Windows XP setup to start. Select Upgrade an Existing Installation.
When asked for Drivers during the Windows XP Plug+Play Hardware Detection routine, supply your custom made Driver's CD-ROM disk, this will install your drivers for items like the sound card.
This is the correct way to install the upgrade,,,

Will do as you've written.
