Memory pcg grx316mp

PCG-GRX Memory problems. Does anyone have advice about getting the other bank to work. No post on boot or access to bios even though modules are the same?

Well apparently some people say tapping the RAM makes it work, other people use cardboard, and others have had it re soldered.

This seems to be a common problem. It also happend to me and a friend of mine. Have a look at Vaio Village. on ezboard.com. At first I thought that I would be faced with the motherboard replacement cost, which is in the hundreds of pounds range. The actual cost to was £80 and Sony had the laptop returned within 2 weeks. I thought the service in this instance was excellent, however, if this is such a common manufacturing fault, then Sony is liable under the UK Consumer Laws.

In addition to this, since the repair, I now get noise from my speakers when running in power save mode.

The following link seems to offer a good summary of the problem.

Oh I totally agree, Sony should be aiming to repair the GRX as it's still a good machine.

Still love the GRX 2 years later and I hate to think of ever moving away to a new desktop/laptop because I'm so acustomed to this one.
