Hi,
I recently started using a Microsoft Intellipoint mouse with my VGN-FE11S and its software and drivers have overwritten those for the laptop's built-in pointing device. I can still use it as a basic touchpad, but I can't configure it in any way, the pad clicking is ultra-sensitive, and the scroll function is no longer working. I've tried reinstalled the original drivers, but the hardware wizard doesn't recognise them.
Is there any way, barring a system restore or clean Windows install, to get my pointing device back?
Cheers,
doonyakka
Hi doonyakka,
Have a look in Device manager > mouse and other pointing devices. If you have a PS2 mouse listed (as opposed to a PS2 pointing device) then you need to update the driver and choose to browse for the driver software from the location of the original driver - possibly C:\Drivers\Pointing. If not at that location then download the original drivers from Vaio-Link.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I tried updating the pointing device drivers but they weren't recognised. Eventually I managed to fix it by uninstalling the MS PS/2 driver completely and installing from the INF file directly.
Problem solved.
Best,
Antonio
