for my vaio pcg-r600mx, i am looking for a new HD, where can I buy one and is it difficult to replace? looking for standard equipment 40 giga... nothing special...

I don't recall that model iether but I have a pcgr600hfp just had the drive go tits up so replaced it with a new 40gb just doing it now. I'm documenting it with pics to show how to go about it. I will post a link to my site for the benifit of others when ive done the job. replacing the drive isn't too hard and not such a dear doo really if your gonna do it yourself. loading the OS without firewire cd however seems to very tricky . The new drive cost £56.00 from www.lightcomputers.co.uk

There's easy breakable parts in the unit especialy the connection to the HD so if your too heavy handed then ask sombody to do it for you.

While im here does anyone know how to go about re-loading the OS/Drivers/Apps on the PCG-R600HFP I have all the 5 disks. but dont have firewire cdrom. I have usb cdrom but theres no boot option in the bios for usb.

any help appreciated
how come theres no search for this forum seems nuts not to have that essential tool
