FS215E sound problem

hi everyone, I have a sound problem with my notebook. I use external speakers as i find that the volume isn't that great with the built in speakers. I have no sound coming from the built in speakers or the external ones. It seems to be a problem with the headphone jack itself. I have spoken to vaio support and their suggestions including the complete recovery of the hard drives to their original state failed to solve the problem. Please help.

You may have checked this already but have you checked the master volume controls (right click on the speaker icon in the system tray).
