DW-G520A, not burning DVD+R 1-16 speed?

Hi All,

Apologies if the following has an obvious solution but people of my old age are not generally as PC literate!

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FE21H which apparently has a Sony DVD RW DW-G520A, and am using software called Roxio Digital Media SE for my data burning needs.

I have no problem burning DVD-RWs, though they only burn at a 2.4x speed.

However, I am trying to burn DVD+R 1-16x speed, but I am having no luck. The drive can apparently 'see' the disc, in that it knows how much space is left, but is unable to burn these discs.

I am having this problem with all DVD+R discs I try to burn. I have tried Sony's GYS4WIN update file, but am told "No supported drive detected".

Can anyone help?

Hello Ribel,

I tried with Nero 9 (free download version) to create a data disc, but still no joy. I receive the following error:-

"Burn process failed at 6x (8,310 KB/S)"

I am assuming the drive does not like the media type (i.e. DVD+R discs) but I understood it should be able to accept these...?

Any ideas?
