Black Screen!

Hi guys!
It's my first time posting in this forum. I am having a problem with my Vaio laptop. I bought the laptop 2 years ago and while I was using it the laptop froze on me and when I switched it off and switched it on again the laptop wouldn't turn on. All that appears is a black screen with a flashing white line. I can't use any of F2, F8 etc keys on the keyboard because when I press on them all I hear is a sound that doesn't stop.
What is the problem and how can I fix it?? I have many important documents in the laptop and I don't want to lose them

Hi Dolceda,

Not sure what the black screen is caused by, but check out www.knoppix.net.

It has a free download that will let you create a bootable CD that will allow you save your files.
