Hi everyone!
I am planning to go abroad soon this year for a holiday, it will be a very long flight ( 17 hours), so I am bringing my notebook to entertain myself during this hours. As everyboby is aware, that the battery for notebooks only last for 2 hours, I am not certain if there is any socket in the seats of the airplane to connect the notebook or if there is, do I need to purchase a special kind of power adapter, or does the aircraft had this kind of adapter that I can use?
I understand that some airlines do in fact provide the facility to recharge your laptop in-flight. Best to check with your airline directly to see if this is available and what hardware you need to provide, if any.
I know Air Canada have a power source in the back of the head rest as I use them when I travel to the States, all you need is a 3 to 2 pin plug. But as DT said it's best to ring the airline, on my flights they didn't give these out. I must stress that I do travel cattle class, I'm not sure about 1st or business class
High Mitchell,
I am a very frequent traveller and ran into the same problem.
First, the power supply situation is very different from airline to airline and aircraft to aircraft. On some flights you can just plug in with the AC adapter supplied with your notebook on others there is no power supply at all. Then, if there is power supply on the aircraft, it is not available at all seats, so check with your airline and refer to your flight.
I know about the following general solutions for the problem: There are universal (Wall, Car, Airplane) power supply solutions available from Targus and iGo. There is also the possibility to use a DC/AC converter and then again plug in with your regular AC adapter. Which solution is available at shops also differs from country to country.
Once again Sony doesn't help you with this problem
