Hi all. Bought my new Bravia KDL-40nx723 last month and i have a query about a screen issue. I have a light border round the screen (about1/4 inch) more prominent on right hand side but if you look you can see it all round. Should it be there?? Don,t think so. Want to be sure before i call out engineer. All so i am getting slight shadows on fast movin pictures like when watching football ect. Is this LED bleed?? Can notice it from top of screen 4-5 inches apart. Again only very slight but i kinda expected alot more from a £800 sony screen. Since buying tv i have read about sony screen's with similar problems. Anyone have similar problems ? Thanks.
Hi,
what you are seeing around the edge is what is termed by Sony as un-uniformity on the display which basically amounts to the outer edge being very faintly lighter, the other issue you are experiencing sounds like banding which has nothing to do with LED, the screen is edge lit LED, theres still confusion regarding LCD/LED many people think they are buying an LED set when in fact its still LCD the only difference here is how its backlit, some are edgelit LED and some are what they call Full Array or Full LED backlit. as far as im aware nothing further has been said regarding banding issues which is fairly commonplace these days.
ok thanks, but what is a un-uuniformity? Is it a fault? my older 32 tosh never had anything like that although it wasn't a led backlit.
Hi again,
i explained what it is above, for further info on how they arrived at that decision you will need to read through the Sony KDL**HX923 thread (it may take a while!!)

Here is a link should you need it - Sony KDL**HX923 (as Bravia55HX923 mentioned it may take a while to read through the thread as there are ~530 replies)
ok thanks.i have read post now. So its a bit if a debate then as to whether its a fault or not. Anyway i bought this from John Lewis not sony so they will have to take it away. Mine is an August model. Wont they try to repair model anyway.
Hi gazaboy1,
no mate, its not something that can be repaired it is more of a trait with the design, i'll admit that for something like that even on my £2700 hx923 it should not be there but it is, it is after all very faint and does not notice that much, in fact if im honest take a look at all the models with the Gorilla glass and they will all be the same.
John Lewis is outstanding for customer care and cannot be faulted, however your a little hasty in returning unless you feel that its going to ruin your viewing pleasure, but believe me there is nothing that they can do for you other than refund the purchase price.
