Home Network Setup

I have a Bravia KDL40EX723, a Home theatre system BDV-L600 that I am trying to connect to a home network along with a Samsung netbook for streaming and an Iomega Screenplay Pro for playback and storage.  I have a Wireless Router.  When I stream to the TV I cannot play sound through the Home Theatre Speakers.

It is close enough to the router that I can use HDMI or Ethernet connections, I also have the Sony wireless dongle.  The netbook does not have an HDMI so I am using the PC connection.

I would be grateful for any tips on how to get the best out of the system.  Ideally wirelessly if that does not reduce performance too much.

If you are watching videos or music in your TV from a media server (streamed) or any other source that is no connected through your home theatre you will need to connect the audio output of your TV (optical digital output) to the home theatre.  If both the TV and the home theatre support audio return channel (ARC) via HDMI then you may use that.
