As with most forums 90% of post are problems, not many posts to say how good their phone is,

(nature of forums I guess) but I have had my Xperia U for about a month and love it Slightly_smiling_Face one or two teething problems but normal for any type of seting up a new gadget, also I set it not to enable data roaming unless I need it, which is not very often.

Also I have no power/battery/app killers, which I believe can drastically drain your battery (some do some dont) Like many others I have not had any camera issues.

Like you I will not really be using a data plan, WIFI when needed, plus my Bluetooth is always on, in conclusion for me this is a great little phone and well worth the money, spent a little time setting it up, but for me it works as it should Slightly_smiling_Face

you can look up the issues with this phone, but one thing to keep in mind, don't expect this phone to work as good as a flagship, there's a common misconception that if they buy a phone they expect them to be as good or better than the current flagship, there's nothing wrong with that, aside as not being realistic Dizzy_Face

Yea, I realized that it would not be as good as the flagship phone. Right now im using the Xperia X8.  not even a year yet and got bored and a lil disappointed in the phone due to lack of update and multitouch...i dont have the money to pay for data and my carrier allows me to get the xperia u for only $30 (canadian) with a 2 year contract no data needed which is nice.  The problem is I dont want to be stuck in a contract and a phone that I would regret or get bored of very fast 😧  (Arent I the difficult customer.)

if you don't mind waiting for updates then get the Xperia U, which should get ICS by the end of the month or August

People who are not in the forums are enjoying their phones somewhere else. Slightly_smiling_Face this is like a hospital.

Sony is known for Cam/Screen and its Musicplayer, i bought this Phone only for those two Features.. Other than this 2 features this Phone is Pretty Ordinary.. i think Basic Screen size of Smart Phone should be 4" +.

Before Buying this Phone i have GalaxyS and its Super cool Amoled Screen is best fot Browsing , Playing HD games , and also to play Movies. i dont think ppl who used Phones with Large screens never like this Xperia U Screen only bcos of Screen Size..

This is just my personal Opinion...

2 weeks since I got it and I can tell you this: quality materials, good design, many settings, many facilities, good speed and touch-screen, 2 cameras (front/back), you can see pdf java sites even tv live streamings, battery changeable. I didn't have problems with the signal, battery, reboot or anything else. Of course there are apps or widgets which could mess you up. The problerm with it is the camera. If you want good pictures especially indoors using flash or video quality I would choose something else. The noise is much above other phones even though it's not the flagship of Sony. Check the pictures from reviews and see if you can live with it before buying it. But maybe in the near future Sony could add a filter or change the photo sensor or anything to improve the photo quality. Also see youtube videos. The upgrade to ICS could be a question because of the 512 RAM which could be not enough as some say. Hope it will help.
