New battery charging myth

I bought a new xperia u

The dealers told me that i have to charge for 8hrs before intial use.

Some people tell me that its a myth and that i just need to charge till the battery is full.

What do i do ?? Is this really a myth ?

i emailed the customer support of sony and they also told me that, maybe its not a myth. i also did it when i bought my xperia u.

I can advise that there is no requirement to charge the device for 8 Hours as the handsets battery will not obtain a memory. The handset can be used after it hits full, there will be no long lasting affects.
