Hi everybody,
I am a new user of Xperia Mini.
As the upgrade to the ICS is not easily reversible, I would like to know what exact changes to camera interface/behaviour are introduced in the update.
Particularly:
- is the touch focus still available?
- can the big shutter button be hidden?
Best regards,
GS

Both are still available. Sound? I have tried to record and show mono. I did not try to disable stabilizator. Some people reported its stereo. Not a big deal for me as I dont use movie recording. And hd its not a good quality. The same was in Gb. That's my opinion.
Thank you all for all answers.
I think I am going to update anyway because I noticed the "overheating issue" today. And then we should press SONY to restore the original capabilities of the camera in a separate update.

You updated your phone in some specific way and are satisfied with teh result. I know you outlined this, but could you please write a mini tutorial? There are optional scenarios while updating, and if yours is proved to give good results, why not promote it?
Hi. I didn't use update because at that time the update was not available. Still today I don't knoe if the carrier approved ics yet. So I used flashtool and installed an ics room. Anyway when upgrading to ics,I would suggest as some other happy users,to update via SUS and selecting the option factory reset + update instead of upgrade (first option that appear). Make a backup if you need it. Do not choose only update. If using pc companion then update it and do a repair after update by running again the update. It will ask you to repair. This is my suggestion.

If there is an update, do not manually update using flashtool. There is no need then. Flashing may avoid your warranty.

OK, thanks for the reply, I can see that PC Companion wants to install the update on my phone but if Sony Update Service is recommended, I can use it, no problem.
In one of your posts you wrote: "Dont forget to do a repair with SUS after update."
What does thin mean exactly? Any screenshots, please? ;-).
S I think that if you use Sus and select factory reset + update, there is no need to repair as you will get the clean install. Rrpair is needed if you select the first option in Sus and you experience problems when using phone. Repair could be done also fron pc companion. If you connect the phone and launch the application if the version of rom is up to date you will get the option to repair. Users reported that after the installation of ics via Sus and selecting the second option...there is no need for repair. Regards.
As I know pc companion does not give the option that you have in Sus...regarding fact. Reset + update. Maybe some other users can confirm this.
I never used SUS before and the "Repair" option seems not to be avaialable on first screen. Where is it?
What happens to the contents of the memory card during "reset + update" process?
Is it fully formatted and filled with the SONY stuff (around 1 GB) automatically?
I must confess that I'm very pleased with the responsiveness of the phone under GB. Smooth as silk ;-). I hope that it will not get worse after the upgrade.
If ics is available, then Sus will give you the option to upgrade to it. Thats why maybe you dont see the repair option there. The update process and factory reset + update has no effect on your sd card. It will only erase the phone content. My phone works faster on ics then when I had Gb. First couples of hours was slower, but later started to work great. You can turn off screen transitions effects under the developer menu. Do a backup of your contacts or much better use google contavts and sync them .
