Will doing a firmware upgrade on a blu-ray player affect the multi-region playback of DVDs?

I recently bought a Sony Blu-Ray player BDPS380 with multi-region playback on DVDs. If I do firmware upgrade on this player will affect it playing multi region DVDs?

i dont believe its meant to however to be on the safe side i would advise you contact the dealer you purchased this from for clarification, was there nothing in the box for this to suggest otherwise?.

other alternative is to update it and if you do lose multi region playback on dvd's, take it back and say it dont work!!

but i never said that.
