The BBC iPlayer has been given an overhaul. The problem is that the new interface gives a "not enough memory" error - and we're now unable to use the iPlayer.
It's a problem that has also been registered by others at the BBC's iPlayer forum.
Can we rewind to the old interface please ?

Solved! Go to Solution.
AFAIK, there aren't many other CE manufacturers offering iPlayer on Blu-ray and the BBC mentioned to me that it is seemingly affecting those that do as well. So this isn't a Sony only issue. As mentioned, the BBC have sad the bug should be fixed in the week or so hopefully. As per the other thread, I think the BBC have already resolved the buffering issue which users on high speed connections were experiencing so they are pretty good in issuing fixes.
Thanks
I also have this problem but my 'broadband' is using a router connected to 3Mobile using a 3G Dongle. Definitly nothing to do with Talk Talk. My symptom is that once it get stuck in this state it stays that way although I though it had been fixed by the latest update but it has gone back and is now stuck. If it would help I may be able to get a wireshark trace of what is going between the palyer and my router, however there is no point in me attempting this if there is no one to send it to as it is going to involve me digging out a hub of some sort as my switch is not expensive enough to configure a probe port on.
No doubt the moment I start trying to get a trace the problem will go away.
I have two of the Sony Blue Ray players the e370 and the s370. They have been great until this week when I discovered today that they both now have this problem with BBC iPlayer (out of memory). I also have an internet Sony TV however this is OK. So it must be a Blue Ray player problem surely.
Sony / BBC need to sort this out. I am on the Isle of Man and use Manx Telecom as my ISP and definetly don't have a bandwidth problem as have been used to watching he BBC iPlayer and you wouldn't know it wasn't live TV. (up till now !).
Just tried tried loading i-player on my S570 and, for the first time since mid Jan, it works!! Fingers crossed it's not a one off .
Hope it's still working for you. Not my S370.
Any update on the status of this problem Catmambo ?
Time for an anecdote. I bought a Sony camcorder a while ago. Nice bit of kit. I spent a while trying to upload the video from DV to my PC for editing. Eventually I decided it was time to ring Sony. "Oh yes, that software that comes with the camera doesn't work with that camera."
I've got some cracking stuff from Canon and Toshiba since.
Anyone else care to pass the time whilst we wait for Sony/TalkTalk/.BBC
Just checked with BBC and its still being worked on by BBC, Siemens, TalkTalk and one other company at the moment. Seems like some pretty major work is taking place. Soon as I hear any more, I'll let you know...
Thanks
Thanks. It's less frustrating if we know someone is working on it.
...and I at least I have something to tell my little girl who keeps asking me when she can have the iPlayer back on the TV so she can watch her programmes on demand rather than hope that Daddy recorded all of CBBC.
Hi
I have the same problem using a Vodafone provided wired ADSL service. I just moved house and switched ISP but when I first plugged in there was a software update so I dont know if it's the ISP or the software update or the BBC.
BBC help besk say it's a Sony problem, Sony say it's anISP problem, I am sure the ISP will say it's either a Sony or BBC problem.
Is there any hope or do I return the product under warranty as it does not provide the advertised service?
Very frustrated user

Given that's not Talk-Talk/Tiscali then it's a "set of ISPs" - so presumably those ISPs all changed something to stop it working rather than the BBC changing something....
..meantime iPlayer now offers access to the ITV player, 4oD and DemandFive.
I wonder if we get those if and when the Sony/BBC iplayer comes back.
