I have a Sony RDR-HXD1095 DVD HDD recorder and it has stopped recognising dual layer blank discs it has always been a bit temperamental with these discs, sometimes having to load them a 2 or 3 times before they would be accepted but now it will not accept them at all. Eveytime I load a blank DL disc loading comes up on the display and then a pop up window appears on the TV saying cannot format. I am using good quality discs from a big brand name and have no problem with the same disc being recognised in my computer or portable dvd player, so i have no doubt the disc is good.
I have no problem when using DVD R discs the problem so i know that the dvd recorder works the problem is solely with DVD dual layer discs
I do not want to replace this machine but may have to if this problem cannot be resolved. If i do have to replace to machine i would be reluctant to buy another sony of which i have been a big fan of incase i just end up with a new machine with the same problem.
