KDL 40EX503 and STR DH820

i've just recently bought the Sony 40Ex503 and am considering purchasing an av system such as the Sony STRDH820 to improve the sound while watching movies . i'm new to this and i'm not sure about an av system as it seems quite complex especially issues concerning sinc problems. does this tv have ARC in HDMI 1, it's a 2010 model as it doesn't have skype installed although i only bought it about 1 mth ago from PC World!

Richer Sounds have this AV receiver on special offer so i'm very tempted. has anyone used this receiver. i currently have a panasonic blu ray player and virgin HD V box linked to the TV via HDMI leads, if i buy this receiver then everything is linked through it and then one HDMI to the tv?

i'd be grateful for any advice before i decide to buy this receiver.

Hi stepled1,

this is a very nice A/V amp indeed and at that price point pretty good value, if i was in the market to replace my Sony Amp i would have it already!

i cannot find any reference to the ARC in the tv, as the ARC was implemented in the later version of the HDMI leads ( it was probably there before) as all HDMI leads are fully wired, this in itself is not a problem if the tv does not support it, you can use the Toslink connectors and a digital optical cable, theres a gold range one on Amazon on special offer for £7.95, theres is also a pro gold HDMI on special too for £11.99, good cable.

speakers will set you back a few bob too, the full 7 channels (2 fronts, a centre, 2 sides, and 2 rears) plus the .2 is for 2 subwoofers!

enjoy!
