Is Netflix via Sony not in Ireland?

Hi, Just got a BDP-S3100 blu ray player and the internet connects perfectly wirelessly. All the bars are there and I can use the interent browser without a bother. However, I can not get access to any of the streaming services, most importantly, Netflix. When I click the SEN button, it attempts for a long time to access Internet Services but then lets me know it has failed to establish a connection. My interent connection in this room is perfect. Ive been using Xbox Live here for several years without a problem, as well as several laptops. After just 2 hrs is it time to just bring this Sony machine back? Oh and I live in Dublin. Thanks for any replies in advance

Theres something wrong when not even the ethernet cable works.  I think it might be best to contact Sony Support on this issue to be honest.

I think Netflix is available in Ireland anyhow

Good luck with everything

Hi there

Have you tried performing a Network Update on this player yet?

Cheers

Thanks for your response Quinnicus. When I attempt a Network Update, it ends up just saying: connection status cannot be confirmed, cannot communicate with server. Please try again later.

My only option then is to click finish. As mentioned my internet connection is perfect and the signal strength is registering at 100%

Hmmm Interesting....

Next step is to Factory Reset the unit.

If that still fails, connect an ethernet between the bluray and router (as a test) and see if that works.

Just for the record, is it ok for me to do a factory reset without voiding the warranty?

Perfectly fine.

Ill explain, if its in the general settings and user interface of the device, you can do it.  However if you need to access a special Service Menu (then that will probably void warranty)

Most devices these days, its common practise to be able to factory reset when things go wrong.

Hi again, I've tried connecting an ethernet to the player but it makes no difference. With regard Factory settings, there is so many options when I click on it, that I am afraid of getting into something I cant undo.

I know features like BBC iplayer and iLovefilm arent available in Ireland but does this mean maybe the Netflix set up with the machine is for UK only too?
