Fix for audio blipping on some bbc hd programmes?

I've been getting the same blip blip audio dropping that seems to have been happening with Bravia but with svr-hdt500 recorder. Really annoying and makes it unwatchable. Seems to be no update to fix this. Any ideas?

Hi Ajaykay,

welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:

Can you confirm that you have the latest firmware installed on your SVR-HDT500 please.?

Check the HDD Recorder firmware version:

  1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the HDD Recorder is connected.
  2. Power on the HDD Recorder.
  3. On the remote control press the “System menu” button.
  4. Select “Others” then press the “Enter” button.
  5. Select “Diagnostics” then press the “Enter” button.
  6. Select “System Information” then press the “Enter” button.
The firmware version currently installed on the HDD Recorder will be listed on the television screen as “SW version:”.
If the version number should be 4.21.r8585
  7. To exit, press the “Return” button 3 times.

I have the same problem as ajaykay. I've checked the SW version and I'm on 4.10.r7993. Does this mean I should update the SW as a first step ?

Just a bit more detail on the audio 'blip blip' problem:

1. Am using a SONY SVR-HDT1000 through SONY BRAVIA 40EX503.

2. It occurs only with BBC HD programmes (both BBC1 HD and BBC HD).

3. Doesn't necessarily happen on both channels at the same time.

4. Have checked signal strength and it remains the same whether problem is present or not.

5. Have switched same programme to view direct through the tv aerial i.e not through the HDD recorder input. Problem disappears.

6. It doesn't appear part way through a programme; it's there from the start. Feature films seem to be particularly badly affected.

Grateful for any help.
