BDV E370 AND NX703 VOLUME PROBLEM

I have a 40nx 703 and a bdv e370 blu-ray system. My problem is when listening through the BBC HD channel with the bdv e370 on the volume drops if there is a change from lpcm to dolby dig or vice versus and the only way to get the volume back to normal is by accessing the epg and selecting the channel again.Example if the volume is set to 15 and this occurs then by using the normal volume button I have to raise it to 18.Whereas by selecting the epg it then stays at 15 with the correct volume.

The problem also occurs if I am listening to BBC transmitting in Dolby and the switching to another station.Sony say this is a broadcasting problem and is widespread yet I am unable to find any reference to it on the internet.Sorry this is a little long winded but I have tried to make it as concise as possible.

Anyone else out there having this problem?

Hi Sony is aware of a volume inconsistancy with HD channels that have a DTS display on amplifiers, this is not always lower, it does vary, it would appear the programme you are watching may have a different level compared to other channels and on HD this can vary, it however is not a fault, to date we have found no level change when accessing the EPG, could you be more specific on which channels you change between that produces this symtom that changes on opening the EPG.

We can then see if this can be reproduced.

Thanks for the reply. The problem arises only when there is a change from lpcm to dolby dig  or vice versus as shown on the front of my bdv e370.I can raise the volume by using the volume control on the remote but it shows as a higher volume number on the screen for the same level which when then switching to a non HD channel can produce excessive volume.

Yet by accessing the epg and selecting the channel I am on then the volume returns to normal without using the volume up/down.I only have access to the three HD channels on freeview and where it cause irritation is particularly when watching BBC HD and the HD ad with the lion appears in Dolby for approx 30 secs and I have to use this procedure at each change of lpcm to Dolby and back again. The same happens if switching from a BBC HD Dolby transmission to CH4 HD or ITV HD which are obviously lpcm or vice versus.

Sorry this is a long wording as it is difficult to explain.

Hi,

I have noticed the same problem on my BDV-E370. Now BBC 1 HD has come on line I have notice it is doing the same volume lowering on this as well as BBC HD.

I get arround the problem by tapping in the channel number on the remote and this then re-selects the channel and the volume is back to normal.

I will be interested is seeing what Sony come up with to resolve !

Hi MrG011

At least I'm not alone out here with this problem.Sony have told me it is a common problem caused by the tv networks. If it was so common how come there isn't more of it on the forum.I think it is a fob off.

Let us hope an answer can be given that is more helpful from Sony tech support.

Hi,

It's taking some time to resolve!

Lets hope it sorted soon as this is becoming a bit more troublesome especially on channels with adverts.

I hope Sony puts more focus on this to resolve.
