Sony PS-LX56 Belt driven turntable

Hi

I have bought a second hand replacement turntable for my Sony HIFi system. Unfortunately no Manual and I cant find one on the Sony site.

The turntable works but unfortunately skips when playing Vinyl, I have purchased a new needle but still the same.

Im wondering if it could be to do with the arm counter balance?

Any info or advice would be much appreciated
