I own an approximately 14 year old Sony SS CN-17 (sub woofer) and SS-SR17 (two speakers) set. Hardly used. Can anyone tell this old man, how to attach these devices to a regular, one year old desktop computer - and make 'm work?
thnx,
Flip
From what you say all you have are the speakers.
You could use some form of amplifier that will connect to the output of the computer (usually through the headphone socket).
You can use USB via this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/5.1-usb-multimedia-sound-card-97120
Alternatively add a 5.1 or 7.1 card to your PC that will provice separate sockets for the speakers. e.g. http://www.dabs.com/products/trust-5-1-surround-soundcard-sc-5100-3SQ6.html?src=15
You will also need leads/adaptors for connecting the kit together.
Try a branch of Maplins or Richer Sounds.
Thank you,
You're right about 'just the speakers'.
My computer appears to have a 5.1 facility. I guess I have to invest in some wiring.
Never a dull moment for those with an analoguous mind in the digital world.
Cheers,
Philip.
