RX100m2 ruined images

I just discovered that a lot of my RX100m2 images have an unsightly line running straight through them. I have no idea how this happened but I suspect either the SD card (a 64GB Sandisk Ultra), the temperature (varying from 0°C to -20°C) or Lightroom.

Lightroom (or ACR) is a candidate because though they preserve the "rawness" of the images I know they fiddle with them to remove the lens distortion.

Correction regarding Lightroom - that program cannot be to blame - it doesn't write anything to the original file (I just got confused!).

I am beginning to suspect the program I use to geocode images - I have that write the lat/long info back to the original, probably not a good idea.
