Seems like my A65 is on it's deathbed, though I am hoping that it is still fixable.
For some reason, none of the buttons of my camera work other than the shutter button, Finder/LCD button, the on off dial and the aperture dial. Every other buttons, including the mode dials do not work after the camera is switched on and the screen is on for about 2. And while I can shoot by full pressing, I can't auto-focus by half-pressing.
However, for the 2 sec after the camera is switched on, and I can see through the LCD/viewfinder I *can* press any button. For example, I can quickly tap the ISO menu button to show the menu, take all my time to navigate the ISO menu with the by pressing up/down and select the ISO with the middle button.. but as soon as I am out of the menu, that's it, all the buttons are frozen again. Another thing I noticed, though it might be my imagination, is that changing the aperture seems to make louder sound than before.
I am wondering if this is something that has ever happened to anyone and if there is a fix to it. It is a really odd behaviour and I am wondering if a button jammed might be the cause of it. Can someone test of holding down a given button would prevent half-press from auto focussing?
I knew this camera wasn't going to last forever.. for a start, I've been shooting a lot with it (>50,000 times, so probably over half the shutter lifespan) in not always necessarily kind environment (perhaps I should have gone with the more robust, weather sealed A77). But it would be nice to get another year or so out of this camera if I could. The A77ii is very attractive but I am hoping to see a full frame option before making a decision.
Bonjour,
Hello,
I have no A65 in my possession. So I do not know if the option, which we have on the A77ii, exists on the A65.
In the second tab of the menu (= gear), on the last page and on the last line, the A77ii has a possibility to lock the settings of the device by blocking the operation of most buttons (this is to avoid any inadvertent adjustment during dynamic reporting). See if you have this option and if you did not activate it inadvertently.
