YouTube not working

Hoping someone can help.

I have a 55XE8596.  Its been updated to run Android Oreo.  I was able to run YouTube fine but now cannot run it at all.  When trying to start the YouTube app on the TV, I keep getting the "cant connect right now" message and asked to verify that the TV is connected to the Internet.  Everything else on the TV seems to work fine (NetFlix, web browser etc), so i know the TV is connected to the internet fine.  I have seen on this and other forums that people have said that changing the time settings to "Use Network time" worked for them, but my setting is already on this.  I have checked the time on the TV and it is correct.  I am able to access YouTube on all other devices which I have connected to my network, including another Samsung TV.  Frustrated with it not working and trying everything (clearing cache / data, Rebooting TV), I even reset the whole TV through the menus and went through the whole setup process again.  However, the problem still occurs.  I just cannot get the YouTube app to work.  When I try to cast something from my YouTube App on my phone to YouTube on the TV, i get an error on my phone that it couldnt work.  Im at my wits end and really dont know what else to try.  Can someone help?

Hi @jutler123

Sadly I was going to suggest everything you have already tried (reset / clearing cache) plus also try switching the wifi off and on again in the TV settings menu.

Either way I think its probably time for a call to Sony Support about this

Since, having done the reset, it shouldn't be a problem with the firmware what you could try is changing the network configuration for your tv .

If you didn't apply it already, try assigning a static IP to the tv instead of DHCP and set DNS to public ones (like 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4)

I did not find any tutorial but it should quite easy. This is the link to Sony suggestion https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00125843

You have to have also a look at your router documentation in order to use an IP that it should not assign to any other device

Thank you all so much for all the suggestions

I have managed to fix the issue, although I still dont know the cause of it and why its working now.

All i did was another 2 full resets of the TV and then it just started working.  I just hope that it doesnt somehow stop working again as I dont want to have to keep resetting the TV all the time.

On another note, the TV has now started displaying another issue which has been present no matter the resets.

It doesnt power on sometimes at all, either through the power button on the remote or on the unit itself.  It has to be unplugged from the wall for a few second and then plugged back in before switching on.

Did the trick so far. Set up a static IP and used a different DNS.

I have the exact same issues with it not powering up. Have you been able to sort it out?

Is it the same model as well? If you press the home button is the time correct? Also, did you try to disconnect the TV and the router from the mains for a few minutes?
