Can anyone please help with this problem which has caused me a tremendous amount of wasted time and agro.
I have replaced our Bravia KDL-32we613 with a new KD-32w800 from Amazon. I am very happy with the picture, sound etc but …
The blurb says it will schedule recording of TV programs. The old one did this effortlessly, but I cannot get the new one to do the same.
I have tried various HDDs, including a brand new one, and also a USB stick. I have reformatted endlessly and done factory resets.
If press the remote > Help then I get specific instructions to ‘Schedule a Recording’. In summary, this says choose the programme in the guide, then press Quick Setup, go down to Record > Schedule list and ‘follow the on-screen instructions. All I get is a message ‘Start time error. The time now is before the current time!’
Sony’s chatbot suggests that I should disable YouVIew in Channel Setup > YouView Setup in order to schedule recordings. There is nothing about YouView in Channel Setup, or anywhere else in the menu tree or on any screen. And believe me I’ve searched!
Continued:
‘Failed to start PVR. Disk not ready' appears if I try to record a running programme by pressing the record button on the remote. 'Time shift' it off. If I reformat the HDD to NTFSS on a PC I can record running programmes. I still can't schedule recording. The HDD appears correctly under Preferences > Storage.
The Sony website chatbot eventually referred me to Sony specialist support. This wasted a week with every email to the specialist being met with questions, some repeats of ones already asked and answered, and a delay of two days between each. In the end they stopped answering with a suggestion that I could return the TV.
Well, I actually did that and ordered another one from Argos in the hope that I had just had a bum machine. Same old problem with the second TV.
There is much, much more but this post is already far, far too long. Am I just very, very stupid?
Are you connecting the HDD to the USB marked for HDD Rec.
After connecting the HDD you should see a crew saying USB Drive connected with a few options.
One of these options is Register for recording.
Have you done that.
If your TV comes with the YouView and Catchup option you need to switch that off and onto Digital TV.
Under Settings it should be something like, (of course your TV may not have YouView & Catchup at all)
Settings>Channels & Inputs> TV Button Shortcut> Digital> Select your default TV app for Digital
select Digital.
Come out of Settings and press the TV button on the remote, this will switch the TV over to Sonys standard TV guide where you can set up recordings.
Have you checked your TVs clock is set to the correct time and also to British Summer Time.
Thanks Davey. I think you helped me before.
Am working through your many suggestions — double checking those I have tried before — as and when bank holiday permits. Will come to you.
