TV turning on PS5 randomly?

I have an XR-55A80L with a PS5 connected. Everything was OK until yesterday when the PS5 turned on without warning while watching a Disney+ (through the TV app). This caused the TV to switch over to Input 4 (PS5), thus disrupting Disney+ viewing.

The PS5 was in rest mode and this occured a couple of times so I "switched off" the PS5, but it occured a couple of time again.

To stop this happening again, I left the PS5 switched on.

What I have noticed in the last couple of days or so is that when the TV is turned on, a notification is appears on-screen saying that "Ethernet is connected" so wonder if it's related. Both the PS5 and the TV have a wired, Ethernet connection.

I will check if the same occurs if I connect the PS5 wirelessly to determine if it's the TV switching on the PS5 or the network but just wondered if anyone has experience the same issue.

Update, have just been watching on another input (Sky Q) with the PS5 switched on and the TV has just changed input to PS5. I can't think thay this points to anything other than a TV issue.

Any other pointers before I contact Sony?

Hi @spacepods   Unless I am missing something, the common issue here is the PS5 is switching itself on. I not sure how this is a TV issue. Have you got a rogue Bluetooth device anywhere near the remotes. I would turn off HDMI Control on the PS5 and see what happens.

@LightFoot @spacepods

Missing that the issue is more the PS5, already switched on, is grabbing the input away from the device @spacepods was currently watching,

I would expect that turning off HDMI Control would certainly inhibit this behaviour, but it’s something he shouldn’t have to do 😢

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

As the update suggests, the PS5 being left on is still an issue. How can the common thing be one device when two devices are involved and, as someone else has suggested, has HDMI control? I've now discounted Ethernet, wired connectivity (wake on LAN sort of issue), and really suspect the TV and HDMI control.

Looks like it might be a Sony support call that's needed. Sony TV with PS5 is not a good look.

Probably a FW glitch.

Sorry to be a pain but I have now removed the batteries from the PS5 media remote just to be sure that that is not doing anything, as has been suggested that there may a rogue BT device. Will keep an eye on it.

I do appreciate all responses.
