Hi @PlamenVasilev,

Welcome to the Sony Online Community! Let us try to help you with the issue. Answer the questions below so we get a better understanding of your problem.

  1. What is the version of your Kodi app?
  2. Have you installed Kodi on an external storage space or on your TV storage space?
  3. Have you already tried to completely empty the DATA and CACHE from the Kodi app through the Settings Menu of the TV?
  4. Often un-installing and re-installing an app that is causing issues will solve most problem, have you done that already?

Problems with different apps like in your case are very common after a TV software update, specially with updates to a new version of the operating system (Android TV). We always recommend to perform a Factory Data Reset before and after updating your TV software.

Keep us posted!

Cheers,

Dutchice

   Hi Dutchice,

1. I tried all possible versions: Kodi 18 from GP, Kodi 18.1 RC1, Kodi 17.6 official & fork MrMc 3.7-1 GP.

2. Kodi is insalled on my TV storage space (I havn't external storage, I use Home servers)

3. I reset all TV 3 times after update and over a 10 times after Kodi crashes.

I want to clear that i use Kodi like Video player because i can change subtitles, switch chapters (for concerts) etc.

I don't use add-ons except Weather.

Why i mind that something block Kodi? In v.5629 i saw the load of processor's cores, in v.5830 the cores show

Hi @PlamenVasilev,

There is at all times only one single version of the Kodi app available on the Google Play Store app of your TV. We strongly recommend you always install and use the version available from there. Installing and using software which is not officially released through the Google Play Store on your TV will often lead to the troubles you are facing now.

To fix the problem, I suggest you carefully execute the steps below:

  1. Perform a Factory Data Reset in order to clear out all the unofficial apps you have installed on your TV.
  2. Go to the Google Play Store and install the available Kodi app. Do not open or setup the app yet.
  3. Disconnect your TV from Wi-Fi and Ethernet, so it doesn't have any access to your home network devices such as NAS devices or Media Servers. Also remove any USB storage devices connected to the TV.
  4. Open the Kodi app and verify that the app is not crashing. It is simply impossible that your Kodi app crashes at this point. If it did, many other Sony TV users would have already reported this to us.
  5. Once everything is stable as far as step 4, you can start step-by-step importing your media and installing your add-ons. If crashes start, then you know what is responsible for the crash.

As always, keep us posted!

Cheers,

Dutchice

True, besides the image quality, its an edge for Sony TVs over the competition to be runing Android and allow to have a proper  media player like Kodi, which they well know from Xbmc.

The bizarre thing is that a phone Sony Xperia 5 also does not seem to run Kodi, just opens all black .

But yey, we get "free" google bloats!

Bad move Sony, you can win or loose a great deal of costumers at Kodi cross.

I don't think Sony can guarantee that every app will function as desired, especially after software updates. Some optimization/maintenance falls on the shoulders of the developers to keep the service running across different platforms. That's just my opinion

False alarm, it was the refresh rate too high. Setting screen to 60hz solves it!

    Dear Sir,

Please stop to send me replys. I unerstand issues:

1. Already my TV work with 9.0 PIE UD 6.7140

2. Kodi work but not fully supported by MediaTec processors

3. From SONY put some limits for watching the video (how do i know that)

I test the some files that play wiht lags on SONY on PHILLIPS TV with some processor

and they play without any issues.

You could try other players. There's plenty on Google Play
