Morning all.
I've had a quick look around but not finding anything definitive, which suggest to me it doesn't... but, does the KD-55S8005C support Freeview Play?
Thanks in advance.
Hi mabatem29,
Welcome to the community.
I'll look into this for you and see if I can find out. Someone else in the community may be able to advise in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Four seconds on Google would have shown either of you that this is a Sony Android TV with YouView.
So no, no Freeview Play.
I'm well aware it has YouView, but that wasn't the question was it?
I'm also aware that it's a Freeview enabled model... but my question was as to whether or not it supported Freeview Play... see the difference?
Do you even know the difference between Freeview and Freeview Play?
So thanks keyboard warrior for informing me of something I already knew, and a big thanks for the warm welcome to the Sony community.
Ps. That was sarcasm just in case you didn't get that angle either!
Do you own this TV set, or are you thinking of buying one?
The easiest way to have your question answered is to try install it. I just did (sideloaded) and it works
You sideloaded Freeview Play?
I’d like to try that.
Does it include all the Players?
Can you give me a URL where it can be found?
Most apps I think, not BritBox though. Am not particularly interested in the apps as I am using YouView. Don't have an URL, as I installed a backup copy from my Android phone, which I had installed from its Google Play Store. Some hints about side loading here: https://tinyurl.com/yx96hkuj It is useful to have a mouse - I use a Bluetooth one.
Thanks for the tips, but I’m more interested in what you downloaded.
I didn’t know Freeview Play was downloadable from anywhere!
This is what I installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.freeview.android which is what comes up when I search "freeview play" on the play store on my android tablet. Searching on my PC there is also this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.freeview.explore which might be what you are after? If so why don't you try to see if you can install it!
