KD-49XF9005 issues with Soundbar via HDMI ARC

Hi all

I have just taken delivery of my new TV. The picture is incredible as I have both Sky Q and Xbox One X connected.

The issue is with my older Panasonic Soundbar/Sub SU HTB20. I have used this via ARC with my old Viera TV without issue since purchase. When I switch on the TV the soundbar powers up but there’s is no PCM light on the sub and no sound output. The TV reverts to TV speakers only from audio system.

I can force the issue by powering off the sub for a few seconds and switching back on. This activates the PCM light and the sound then works from both the soundbar and sub.

The issues then reappears when I switch off the TV and power up again.

I've connected via Optical and the issue goes away but this involves using a second remote.

Does anyone one know how to resolve the ARC issue? I’m not sure if the SB is incompatible as it’s around 6 years old but the fact I can force the sound through fees like it’s configuration.

Any help would be be great as I don’t want to purchase a new SB just yet.

Hi @crheslo, welcome to the Community.

I was about to suggest an optical connection until I saw you were already aware of the option.

Apart from factory-resetting everything, I'm not sure there's any way of reproducing the problem without access to your model soundbar.

Let us know how a reset works out.

Cheers

Mick

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. After some playing around I appear to have resolved the issue.

After switching on the TV, I wait around 5-10 seconds before I switch on any input source (sky or Xbox). At this point the Soundbar outputs as normal. The sound is then fine until I switch off the TV.

No upgrade required.

Thanks
