I have just paid an awful lot of money for a Bravia OLED-55A1. I am disappointed that Auto adjustment of picture aspect (Auto wide) which automatically adjusts wide screen mode based on signal received, is not available. On a modern and upmarket tv like this surely it should be an available function (they seem to refer to it as an app). It spoils the enjoyment. Does anyone know if there is going to be a software update fixing this and when might it happen or does Sony not have this function. My 12 year old old Pioneer Plasma (still a great tv) came with this function.
Hi @dick65
If you go into the Picture settings via HOME > Settings and not through the action menu, you will see 'Screen Settings' In there you should be able to adjust the following (my settings):
Screen | |
Wide Mode | Full |
Auto Wide | On |
4:3 Default | Normal |
Display Area |
Full Pixel |
Cheers
PS: I have moved your topic to the Android TV board.
The way I understand it is that aspect ratio is typically controlled by the playing app. (Auto) Wide mode is available in Live TV for example where Sony's own app is responsible for video playback.
