2018 Android TV displays incorrect aspect ratio when watching Amazom Prime HD content

When watching HD movies on Amazon Prime using the in-built app on KD49XF9005, the movie is incorretly displayed in 23:9 aspect ratio instead of 16:9, resulting in thick black bars top and bottom of screen and all images vertically squashed. All screen setting options are greyed out, so I'm unable to change the aspect ratio. Having invested in a new TV to enjoy better picture quality I find I'm watching distorted movies through a letterbox - far inferior to my venerable 10 year old Panasonic TV that allowed me to manually change aspect ratio for any input.  Anybody know how to fix this before I return the set?

Hi @AndyGH,

I wonder if you have already tried to look through the different screen setting as follows:

HOME > Settings > Picture & Display > Screen > [Wide Mode]/[Auto Wide]/[4:3 Default]

Note that you first have to open the Prime Video app, from there, open the settings above. I definitely recommend you also verify if you have updated both the Prime Video app as well as your TV firmware to their respective latest versions.

Cheers,
