The display on this phone is strange theres the dimming issue which i've mentioned and someone already confirmed that they had it too where the screen is dim for the majority of the time unless you use the photos or youtube app at which point it goes vibrant and bright with amazing white seriously incredible display, until you exit out and it goes dull again, theres another issue i encountered too, as you know the phone has a creators mode calibration it also has a toggle that turns this calibration on for specific apps i have this toggle to off because creators mode is simply too yellow for me any way when i go to youtube for certain videos it goes yellow any way meaning even if i turned off the automatic creators mode it turns on any way, this is not an issue that can be fixed with a repair this seems to be an issue with the software the dimming may be there to prevent burnin but i hope it's fixed as it ruins the display completely it makes it look bad most of the time so wallpapers don't look as vibrant and bright as they could, not to mention the lack of supervividmode which annoys me to much.
Turn on Adaptive brightness, and adjust the slider to what you want to watch youtube at, the phone will remember that setting preference.
And as to the yellow, turn off Auto Creator Mode, and Video Image Enhancement in Display settings, when you have the display set to Standard.
Creator mode is pretty spot on for the proper material though.
i did turn both off and it still goes yellow and whats the purpose of turning on autobrightness when you don't want the brightness to ever go down i always keep brightness to 100% on all my displays anything less is not acceptable to me ever i have never used auto brightness ever but i will try and see what happens i tried now in sunlight and it seems the dimming is gone but now the brightness never goes up either so the brightness doesn't seem to be as high any more.
You do get a boost in sunlight with auto/adaptive brightness on.
I tried Deadpool 2 which was downloaded, and on my way to the car, the display did increase, same with the Album content that was playing in its app.
I wonder if it's just movies and games that are increased, although the MyNextbase app for my dashcam is super bright in daylight, and thats leaving adaptive on, and just opening the app.
it was hard to see in the house setting it up, but in the car it just got brighter.
Would stamina mode affect the brightness as well?
As to your yellows, have you set or picked the white balance while in standard mode, or does Video Image Enhancement in Display settings do anything.?
i turned off all enhancements including auto creators mode it still goes yellow sometimes in for example youtube and it's not about a boost in sunlight it's about a boost when using the photos app or youtube thats the only places it goes maximum as far as i know
can confirm that turning off adaptive brightness does turn the dimming off instead it's permanently stuck in the dimmed state meaning google photos no longer gets a boost in brightness but the screen is dim it's not boosted in brightness anywhere instead, i wen't to picture enhancements and by turning on picture enhancement and turning it off over and over again suddenly the picture goes super bright to then die when i exit out of the displaysettings, the maximum brightness makes the screen pop it looks amazing but i can't see it as it rarely happens, how do i force this maximum brightness all the time.
Exactly how it says in the manual.
Switch on Adaptive Brightness, and then slide the brightness slider all the way to the right.
The phone then learns that photos will be max brightness.
