STR-DN1080 Home Menu

Dear Community,

Could anyone tell me if the Home Menu SHOULD be displayed every time i change my tv's input to hdmi arc ??

Is there a logic behind this or is it a bug that should be fixed ? Does every owner experience the same thing or is it relying on TV's brand ?

Perhaps it would help us to know what's the TV you're using with the receiver. Are you using Control For HDMI?

Thanks for the reply. I am using control for hdmi as I need to be able to use arc. Can't use optical connection since I pass lossy atmos to the receiver. My tv is an LG oled

in this case, let's go back to basics:

1- Disconnect the receiver and TV from the mains completely for a while and try again.

2- Make sure the receiver is up to date: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/audio-components-receivers-amplifiers/str-dn1080/downloads/00015532

3- Test the receiver with a different cable if you can.

4-Perform a factory reset: https://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn108/v1/en/contents/TP0001221267.html

The receiver is up to date. I have changed the hdmi cable and reset the receiver. Unfortunatelly nothing changed ! Home menu is displayed every time i set the arc as input !

That sounds weird. Do you normally change the inputs using the remote or directly from the unit? Also, what if you disabled HDMI control? Would it still behave the same way?

Hello Vanilla,

I am changing inputs using tv's remote. When switching from terrestrial broacasts to hdmi arc, the receiver changes to the correct input accordingly (tv to the last used receiver's input respectivelly). So far so good. But after a while the home menu pops up! Disabling hdmi control does not activates home menu as the receiver stays to which input is all the time but arc is not working. The sound goes out from tv's speakers when watching terrestrial or from embedded apps

I have the same amp and have never had your issue It might help if you could tell us what you have connected and may lead to a solution.

Hi,

Tv is hooked on arc and everything else (sat, ps4, blu-ray) is on the receiver. When switching from tv to receiver's hdmi I have everytime the home menu to interrupt the viewing...

That's strange. I have a similar setup to yours but don't get the home menu. In fact it could be due to HDMI control. Is yours on or off?

I'm stumped. You could try checking your cables ensuring that they are in good condition and of top quality, beyond that, I'm out of ideas. Sorry i can't give you any further ideas but someone here should know.

You mentioned that you use the remote control of the TV, how about using the remote control of the amplifier itself? Also, have you tried disconnecting all of the devices and reconnecting them one by one to see if the issue is caused by a specific device?

Hi Black Rose,

Just tested. Disconnect everything but no luck. Seems to be a problem between the tv and the receiver. Regarding your 2nd proposal, when switching input from the receiver, the tv remains in its input. So I have to switch tv's input also. And when I do, the home menu appears again!

It is connected to an oled B8 manufactured by LG. I am wondering also if it normal that the receiver wakes up when the arc channel is selected by using the remote of the TV. Does this always happen with other brands?

It's not related to the brand I believe, just wanted to check if it's a Sony TV that we can try and change settings on, but, it isn't.

I will try passing this issue to Sony, as honestly, I don't think any further troubleshooting steps are needed.

I have switched it off. Only hdmi control is currently on. But it keeps to power on and switching to home menu
