Apps on my sony KDL-40W605B

Does Sony ever update the available apps on this generation of TV. If they don’t does anyone know how I can do it? Or do I need another device? If I do it’s not such a smart TV is it

Hi @Howami1 You would be better off adding a streaming stick containing all the latest Apps.

It was pointless buying a Sony smart TV. I might just have gone out a purchased a plug and play stick in the 1st place.

Sony should have developed a new software download to upgrade this generation tv. when it decided to no longer support developing new apps for it.

Poor customer support from Sony.

Very disappointed.

It is a seven year old set, what do you expect? Even apple iMac are not supported that long

Even if Sony did release an update for it or the apps continued to work, they would be either a slow mess or a shell of what it once was due to the set being too old to run it (if not right now, then at some point), that's why the sticks exist as a product in the first place, easily replaceable and relatively cheap compared to buying a whole other TV.
