Auxiliary Sound connections

I have a KDL 46 Brava TV. I have connected it to a Sony dvd player using the HDMI port, a hard drive for recording through a usb port and an amplifier with external speakers through the headphone socket as the tv's speakers are not good. As I am hard of hearing, I have connected a personal loop system through the scart socket. However, the sound to the loop system does not operate if I play a recorded program, either from the dvd player or the hard disc. I would have thought that if the sound goes through the headphone socket, it would also go to the scart socket?

I am purchasing a converter for the optical port as this is advised for by loop manufacturers - will this work with the dvd player and the hard drive?

Hi roggaunt and welcome.

You didn't mention the TV model, in any case the audio from the scart is able to output only the internal dvbt tuner. No other audio/video output is sent through it.

Via the optical output instead you can send whatever the TV is receiving...
