Hi,

This is a bit of a specialised question, but maybe someone can help.

I use the TV remote to control my HDMI-connected apple TV so that I don't need to keep the apple remote around (it's a nice remote, just don't need so many of them, and the apple unit has a handy feature whereby you can programme it to read commands from other remotes).

To do this I keep the TV in digital mode but set to the apple's HDMI input, and when I press a remote button e.g. '2' for up or '5' for select/enter, the message 'Programme not available' appears in the bottom right (because the TV also receives the remote signal of course and thinks I'm trying to change channel). This little message can get a little annoying and block things in that area of the screen so I'm wondering if there is any way to prevent it from appearing? I don't use the digital TV tuner (nor the analogue for that matter) as I also have a SkyHD box connected by HDMI.

And no, changing the TV to analogue mode doesn't work because then the button press actually changes the input over to TV from the HDMI and a screen full of static appears. (I'm not sure why the input doesn't change over when in digital mode, but obviously not complaining...)

Any suggestions?

Jeff

Hi there

This is purely a suggestion (as I dont have the equipment that you have), but : Why not tune in the TV to receive the freeview digital channels on the TV, as at least then, if you press 2 or 5, it will then change the TV channel, and that ERROR message will not pop up. I understand that the Sky box may pass-through digital DTT signals to the TV, if the aerial is connected from the Sky box to the TV?

Just trying to think of a work around, thats all.

Cheers

Great idea actually. I hope it will still stay on the apple TV's HDMI input rather than switching over to the TV one though. However it's worth a try, I will see if I can figure out how to do this.

Thanks
