No save password dialog box

When ever i connect to a network resource i type in my network user name ands password but there is no tick box for me to save the password. Anyone got any ideas why this is? Is it just Vaio related? I have a Vaio FE11s with XP pro and media centre on.

Please help!!!

Hi Andy and welcome to Club Vaio.

There are a couple of possibilities that may be preventing this option:

1. Open Regedit and navigate to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"disabledomaincreds"=dword – the Data value should be set to (0)

If that value is already (0) or changing to (0) has no effect then:

2. Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options > “Do not allow storage of credentials or .NET Passports for network authentication” - Set this option to "Disable"

You will probably have to restart your comuter for these changes to take effect.

Hi Rich,

I've tried bosth of those but still no joy. Do you think it's a Sony thing? A friend has a Vaio with XP Home on and he has the same problem. Mine has XP Media centre. It's confusing me!!!

Sorry Andy, I am not sure that i have anything further to offer unfortunately.

When you say that you are trying to connect to a network resourse, is this a domain or a connection to an ISP? If a domain is this also running xp?
