PSP to Vaio Wireless connection

My son has a PSP, I have a Vaio laptop with WLAN.

Is It possible to connect the two via a wireless connection.

I've had a go but neither unit sees the other. Do I need a wireless router to join them.

i have also a psp device but i don't think that you (& i) can connect it wireless, unless you have a wireless internet device, which can spreads the signal.

you need a wireless router to give both your laptop and psp an internet connection. i think there is some software that will let you connect you psp to your laptop(makes you laptop a wireless access point or there are many psp WLAN accessories like this one:-

Thanks guys, I've never tried WiFi before. I've had a quick look on the internet and You do need a router.
