Upgrade Graphcis Card on A Series notebook?

Is there anyway of upgrading the graphics card on an A Series notebook? I have an A-117s and would like to change the graphics card on this.

Is it as simple as ordering a part from Sony and swapping them out?

As far as I am aware you can't upgrade the Graphics card as it is fixed (soldered) to the motherboard.

I've seen people order new bluetooth modules and wireless mouse bits for A series and since the physical shape hasn't changed it must be as simple as just ordering from Sony.

You can almost order anything from them as long as you know the part numbers required. So surley I could just work out those and order them and fit it myself.

You can't - because they don't have an upgrade, and it's not like bluetooth or wireless, it's soldered on the board. Unless you have a degree in micro technology and circuitboard architecture I'd leave it alone

Yeah I know that you can't upgrade the graphics card, but I am talking about changing the whole motherboard.

I don't need the case, the screen, the hard drive, the other bits, just change the motherboard with the graphics card... surely that's cheaper than buying a whole new notebook.

Isn't the screen the most expensive part?

Especially with the sony's. I have the 17" 1920x1200 screen and sony don't even sell that anymore.

So changing the motherboard to get a new graphics card is my only option, or to buy a new a-series and swap the screen.

They're about the same.

For example to change a motherboard on an out of warranty GRX316MP Sony wanted £800
