Grey border around desktop icons

This probably has a really simple answer but ive looked on google to try and fix this but i cant find anything. Heres the problem: i was messing around on the desktop just moving things etc and then the icons just had a grey border around them they stayed after turning off the pc and its really bugging me.

Not entirely sure what the problem is here Franz, but I would suggest that you carry out a system restore back to a date before the problem occurred. (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore).

You know on the calendar... only todays date and yesterdays date is in bold

In that case I suggest that you scan your system for viruses/malware!

Ok so what do you suggest next about the grey icons? Is there like a default button for all icons?

Aha! I found the problem!

I recently put my xbox live gamer card on my desktop ( Right Click desktop > Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web ) which put a grey border around my icons which you can change the colour by clicking colour just under the center, tile or stretched drop down box on desktop properties. Anyway, after i unchecked the web item an clicked apply everythign went back to normal.
Now i just need to see if there is a way to put my card back on there without that border coming back up
